Monday Mild Obsession: Watercolor

If you can't tell, I am totally in spring mode. And perhaps this is why I am SO attracted to anything watercolor right now. The soft, translucent colors remind me of pretty blossoms, fresh grass, and the newness that the season brings.

P.S. I want those business cards.

P.P.S. I also just saw Lonny does a Wednesday Watercolor feature on their blog. Awesomeness.

Big Bear Snow Adventure

Had an absolutely incredible time getting snowed in this weekend in Big Bear. Great company, amazing home-cooked meals (my bf is the sh&#), and lots of much needed R + R. Definitely plan on making this an annual experience.

The Bold + The Beautiful

{ feeling a little more COLORFUL this week! }

Off to Big Bear for a little snow weekend with friends. Enjoy your weekend...

Concrete Canvases

Can you believe these are actually photographs of concrete walls? If these were canvases they would definitely be hanging on my walls.

A couple weeks ago while we were in Joshua Tree I took this photo of algae growing on a rock. I simply loved the natural beauty of the colors and textures together. Little resemblance?

Daydreamin'

Even though this short month is practically over, the Free People February 2011 catalog video has been on my mind since I first saw it a couple weeks ago (or maybe it is just the featured Gypsy Death Star song that has been on repeat non-stop that I can't get enough of). Full of luscious Southern California scenery (think beaches, rolling mountains, radiant sunsets), it is like a daydream of their free-spirited signature boho looks.

THEN, I stumbled on their January 2011 catalog - even better. Frolicking in the streets and making out in the parks of Paris? Yes, please.

And while you're at it, check out this Anthropology road trip video. It is magical...

Monday Mild Obsession: Orange Lips + Nails

So it looks like orange lips are in for spring and I'm SOLD. Already one of my favorite colors for nails, the summery shade pairs perfectly with bronzed skin and loose waves - looks not hard to achieve living in San Diego (year-round, really). Over the weekend I dragged Sky into Sephora and he helped me pick out this beauty in "Blaze". Can't wait to test her out.

A few looks from the runway:

And here are a few of the orange (or orange-red) polishes I'm really feeling right now:

{ my year-round staple }

{ a little brighter }

{ a little orange-r }

{OPI in Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It, Sephora by OPI in Caliente Coral, Illamasqua in Gamma (never tried their stuff before this weekend but am really liking their line)}

How do you feel about orange for spring?

I Smell Spring

We got all our errands done this morning before the rain this afternoon, including a lovely trip to the Little Italy farmers market. So wonderful to see some spring time flowers rolling into the mix. However, I was too overwhelmed with all the possibilities so I ended up with only three Green Tricks to add to the still alive week-old Geraniums sitting on our credenza. Ridiculousness.

Rainy Day Neutrals

So I don't know if it is all the rain in these parts this weekend or the new Tine K Home's Spring/Summer 2011 catalog (gorgeous!) that is getting me into a major neutral mode, but I am falling for the simplicity of whites and grey interiors. Maybe or maybe not with surprises and hints of colors here and there. A few of my favs:

Floor to ceiling windows + white vaulted ceilings...

I bet one could get very creative with this concept...

Pure perfection. Hands down one of my most favorite fireplaces yet...

So yes, there is a lot of color here in the bedding and accessories, but the window panes as the backdrop to the bed are exceptional...

Loving the contrast of the dark wall with white cabinets (and beautiful antique table) + chrome fixtures, appliances and accessories (a.k.a. knives)...

White painted exposed bricks + white textured bedding...

Seriously too much to say about this one. DREAM kitchen (well, one of many). I absolutely adore...
