Monday Mild Obsession: Vince Contarino

This Brooklyn-based artist has officially inspired me to pick up some paint brushes and get to work. New York friends, please check out some of his current exhibitions so I can live vicariously through you.

Monday Mild Obsession: Pino

Isn't this fun and colorful little store in Finland so refreshing? Pino (which means 'pile' or 'stack' in Finnish) offers unique, functional and innovative design objects while boasting great interiors and a playful, rocking brand identity. And what about those windows?! If I could steal them I would.

Monday Mild Obsession: Lizzie Fortunato

The twin sister team of Lizzie Fortunato has me in complete awe of their jewelry creations (one sister designs, the other runs the company's operations). Using a mix of found/reclaimed and precious materials, the accessories are unique, fun and are sure to make a bold statement. I'll take one of each, please.

Monday Mild Obsession: American Apparel Carry-All Pouch

These bags from American Apparel have been all over lately and I'm loving their simple yet versatile style. They are available in medium ($45) or large ($58) with different color options - awesome price, no? I am just deciding on whether I should go with the black or tan. I adore how the large black version is styled in the first photo below:

Monday Mild Obsession: Striped Walls

I don't know why but every year when Spring hits, I am crazy about stripes. They are so simple and classic but have the power to make such a bold statement, in fashion and interiors alike.

If we owned our own place I would definitely do this. However, the aspect of painting the stripes myself is a little intimidating. For instance, last month this painting project became a DIY that turned bad (don't even ask) and it's size is quite the small fraction of an entire wall. Regardless of the labor of love aspect (if you do it yourself), striped walls can be such a fun accent to any room or home - as subtle or wild the color you choose - and the finished result is by far definitely worth the work.

Monday Mild Obsession: Vanessa Briggs

After coming across artist Vanessa Briggs' oil paintings here and here, I am quite smitten. Her Sunset series is definitely a favorite and I'm sure they are even more beautiful in real life.

Check out more of her work here.

Monday Mild Obsession: Watercolor

If you can't tell, I am totally in spring mode. And perhaps this is why I am SO attracted to anything watercolor right now. The soft, translucent colors remind me of pretty blossoms, fresh grass, and the newness that the season brings.

P.S. I want those business cards.

P.P.S. I also just saw Lonny does a Wednesday Watercolor feature on their blog. Awesomeness.

Monday Mild Obsession: Orange Lips + Nails

So it looks like orange lips are in for spring and I'm SOLD. Already one of my favorite colors for nails, the summery shade pairs perfectly with bronzed skin and loose waves - looks not hard to achieve living in San Diego (year-round, really). Over the weekend I dragged Sky into Sephora and he helped me pick out this beauty in "Blaze". Can't wait to test her out.

A few looks from the runway:

And here are a few of the orange (or orange-red) polishes I'm really feeling right now:

{ my year-round staple }

{ a little brighter }

{ a little orange-r }

{OPI in Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It, Sephora by OPI in Caliente Coral, Illamasqua in Gamma (never tried their stuff before this weekend but am really liking their line)}

How do you feel about orange for spring?
